Amsterdam, 15-01-2014 –
Parkmobile, the leading provider of services that enable users to pay for parking from their (smart)phones, announces its integration with Volvo Sensus Connect. With a few pushes of the in-car node, drivers will be able to pay for a parking space with an on-file payment method, eliminating the need to find their mobile phone or the hassle of a paying at a parking meter.
“Parkmobile enhances the parking experience by eliminating the need to swipe a card or feed coins to a meter,” said Marius Koerselman, CEO at Parkmobile Group.
“We are excited to extend the Parkmobile offering to the connected car through our collaboration with Volvo Car Group. Parkmobile looks forward to working with Volvo to offer drivers a more robust means of driving and parking,” Koerselman added.
While it varies from location to location, drivers start or stop their parking session when arriving or leaving their parking space.
Sensus Connect, Volvo Cars
With the launch of Sensus Connect, Volvo Cars reveals the updated on-board solution for connected services, infotainment, navigation and audio. Now, Volvo Cars truly offers customers a fully connected experience. The cloud-based services allow drivers to find and pay for parking from their car.
The application is based on car2infrastructure communication and points the way of new possibilities when the car starts to “communicate” with its surroundings.
The solution is implemented and operated as a managed service of a global cloud-based solution with regional and central nodes. These nodes enable efficient provision and communication of services and information to the cars.
All in all, the 'cloud' offers great flexibility to adjust capacity and local presence of content based end-user demands. The solution covers all Volvo Cars markets around the globe.
“By choosing partners who are the very best in their individual fields such as the parking service provider Parkmobile, we were able to focus on what we do best, providing a safe, comfortable and highly enjoyable ride,” says David Holecek, Connectivity Brand Manager at Volvo Cars.
“It’s all about giving a Volvo driver an enjoyable and intuitive experience. By offering our customers the possibility to find and pay for parking from their car, we truly add value to their everyday life and make it easier.”
The updated Sensus Connect will be available in all new Volvo models starting in May 2014. Drivers who already have Sensus Connect in their cars today will be offered an update for their system.
